Deconstruction of Memory
Victoria Memorial Arena (1949-2003) Canada’s first all-concrete arena, its distinctive barrel shaped roofline, reminiscent of airplane hangers functioned as sports facility, entertainment space, and cenotaph. The deconstruction process was first in green recycling of components, (using old concrete in foundations of the new). Commissioned by the City of Victoria, Taylor’s photographs interpret the arena tear down as an artistic event.
